About Poly Furniture

Poly Lumber is made out of High-density polyethylene (HDPE) which is one of the most frequently used plastics in the United States. Commonly referred to as #2 plastic, it is typically found in milk jugs, juice boxes, plastic bags, and refillable plastic bottles. In addition to plastic poly lumber and recycled plastic furniture, recycled HDPE lumber is used to manufacture lawn and garden products, marine parts, office products and used in a wide variety of industrial applications.

HDPE plastic has several elements that make it ideal as a packaging and manufacturing product. It’s stronger than standard polyethylene, acts as an effective barrier against moisture and remains solid at room temperature. It resists insects, rot, and abrasive chemicals that are known to cause damage. It is easily recyclable and can be used again and again. Recycled HDPE creates no harmful emissions during its production or during its use by the consumer. Also, HDPE leaks no toxic chemicals into the soil or water.

Poly furniture has proven to be unaffected by the sun, rain, snow, sleet, wind, saltwater, chlorine and mildew. The very nature of this dense material keeps the color from fading and is heavy duty so it isn’t blown around by the slightest breeze. It is usually assembled using stainless steel hardware that gives added value to the products. Recycled plastic furniture is nonporous so it can be left outside year round, no matter the climate. Regular, easy maintenance with soap and water keeps it clean and enjoyable for countless seasons.

In order to make recycled plastic furniture, recovered HDPE is cleaned, shredded and ground. This raw material melted down and mixed with UV stabilizers and pigments. From there, we extrude the plastic into standard lumber shapes.
